China announces new Tariffs on Australian Beef exports
6 Jan 2026
A surprise announcement sees China stating that this decision has been made to protect its local farmers from international competition of major export nations including Argentina, Brazil and Australia.
It is understood that these new import duties will be 55% and will apply once this new annual quota is reached during this now current 2026 calendar year.
These new Tariffs will reportedly apply to all imports into China, from any country, once China receives its annual quota of 2.7 million tonnes of beef imports, which is just short of the 2.9 million tonnes it imported globally in 2024.
